CALIOPE

How does it work?

This application allows you to view the air quality forecast in Europe in addition to concentration maps for the next 48 hours of the main atmospheric pollutants: ozone (O3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and material particulate (PM10 and PM2.5). It is completely free and available for any device

The application uses the GPS of your mobile device to establish your location and consult the CALIOPE System databases online, showing the air quality forecast in the nearest stations, through five categories: good, acceptable, poor , bad and very bad.

It is aimed at all people interested in the state of air quality, either because they are susceptible to cardiorespiratory diseases, have young children, perform outdoor sports activities or because they are simply concerned about the air they breathe.

EXPERTS IN ACTION!

The app not only explains the amount of air in your area but it is capable of forecasting the air quality of the next few hours accompanied by information on each of the above-mentioned atmospheric pollutants.

We use this tool in the project at the time of the excursion, specifically the measuring experts have to measure and record the air quality of the different areas they visit in order to make a distinction of the most polluting areas in order to know how to explain the cause of the event.

Therefore, by adopting the student a fully leading role in their own ancestry is to give them the ability to lead their growth, making clearer and more accurate decisions beyond school. It means helping in the formation of more conscious and committed citizens, prepared to face the challenges of the modern world. Helping them in the development of #autonomy, creativity as well as the valorization of complex thinking
