Theoretical contents, Audacity and UD's topic
This week we learnt about some useful contents in the making of our UD:
The four key elements affecting learning processes.
The potential of ICT to improve education
The infrastructures and support needed in Primary Education
Emerging issues across sections.
Besides, Vanesa introduced as an activity:
Creating audio files with Audacity.
Audacity is a free, easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, macOS, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. The interface is translated into many languages. You can use Audacity to:
Record live audio.
Record computer pl+ayback on any Windows Vista or later machine.
Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs.
Edit WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP2, MP3, Ogg Vorbis sound files.
AC3, M4A/M4R (AAC), WMA, Opus and other formats supported using optional libraries.
Cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together.
Numerous effects including change the speed, pitch or tempo of a recording.
Write your own plug-in effects with Nyquist.
And more!
In our case, we are going to use audacity to create an audio file with the following conditions:
(1 - 3 minutes) with a soundtrack in the background and several (at least 3) audio clips (preferably with your own voice) overlapped
We consider Audacity an interesting and attractive resource for children. Sometimes the teaching process is lack of newness and creativity so maybe this resource could bring some attention to our class. That's why we are considering to introduce it in our UD.
In relation with the teamwork, the objective of this week was to finally focus on the topic of the UD. In order to do that, we ended up having a meeting on Friday.
We are a very creative group so we talked about thousands of ideas so it was very difficult to make a choice.
Finally, the main topic of our UD is: Pollution and protection of nature. We believe that environmental education is key in order to protect the place we live so it will be so beneficial if schools give more time to this subject. Besides, protecting Mother Earth helps us to engage civic values towards society such us: responsibility, awareness, respect, empathy, teamwork, fair play, tolerance and gender equality.
